Mini Dresses! Literally

I went to Hobby Lobby with mom last weekend... I love that store!!! We spent like maybe 3 hours there.
But I HAD to take the camera out at one point! Yah, in the store :D

So I thought that these dresses were SO cute... "If I could just shrink to try them on!"
Then I started to think, "They look like perfect mini dresses... how perfectly sewn!"
I haven't sewn a single thing since last time when I did a few stitches. I need to chop chop!
It would be so cute to actually make something! But each stroke of the brush leads to the masterpiece :)

Christmas Eve Cooking

Helping mama in the kitchen while listening to Recordando by Marcos Witt... just plain amazing.

So here's the menu:
Lamb
Dinner Rolls
Rice
Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
Salad
Cider: White Grape and Apple
Dessert: Sweet Bread with diced apples in the middle, rasberries, chocolate chips, and cinnamon. (courtesy of Panera Bread)

[Now I realize how helpful the adjectives on a menu are... pardon my lack of adjectives... but pictures are better ;)]

Now I will not take any of the credit of the feast. Mom's the pro.
I was only the Sous Chef... only without the "Chef," just the "Sous."
So it was a delightful time with the family that the Lord provided.
Mom's the pro, I'm the sous; so my goal is to cook while knowing exactly what I'm doing :D

Merry Christmas

There's perfect, then there's the sugar cookie

I got to bakin' again! :D With other fellows sisters as well :)
I think baking is now one of my favorite pasttimes ;)

So we baked peanut butter kiss cookies which came out perfect! I had never tasted those and they were just amazing. So soft too!
Next, we went for the sugar cookies.

I'd never made those and I assumed that they would be a piece of cake to make: just put 'em on the cookie tray with whatever shape you want and voila!
But of course, assumptions are never good. First of all, they were extremely droopy. Blegh. And second of all... They became one.

And got crispy.

SO, that didn't work :D. I'll try that again sometime ;)
I had to leave the baking party early. But headed to another cooking party! My mom's! :)

Cupcakes!

YESTERDAY I had the wonderful chance of spending time with my fellow sisters :D
SO fun!
We baked cupcakes! Chocolate and vanilla flavored to be exact :) PLUS Funfetti Icing and red, yellow, blue and green icing.
It took us about... hm... 3 hours? Ha ha I really can't remember but it was a LONG time.
So my 3 sisters and I got to bakin'!
We let the cupcakes cool off but as we were adding the icing, the tops of the cupcakes were coming off. Oops. But we still had fun decorating!

So it took hours... BUT it was SO fun!
'Tis the season

Sewing 101

Today was my first sewing lesson! For FREE! Oh yeah.
Mom's the prof ;)
She showed me how to put the top and bottom threads and how to set the different sewing lengths, zig-zags (mind you I'm an ammateur so I don't know all the lingo... bear with me), pace, and "steadiness."
All I did today was use a piece of jean to try out the different patterns and test my sewing pace.
I also practiced turning the fabric by lifting and setting down the presser foot. At first I was slapping it down so mom told me I could do it gently :D so I did ;)
Thanks mom!

So this is my first sewing machine work EVER

So dad warned me, "Just don't let your finger get sewn."
"Thanks dad."

I can't wait to get better! But it's going to take a ton of practice  :)

What?

So I decided to begin a "Creative Progression" sort of blog...
It is so titled (Life Rocks) all because of the job that the Lord gave me.
Kind of a daycare center but not.
The room I work in is called Life Rocks and it's dedicated to crafts, with beads of all sorts, sewing, felt fabric, claymations, threads of all sorts, yarn, looms, knitting, crotcheing, and even baking. A BUNCH of things I need to get better at and even the kiddos are teaching me their skills :)
So this shall be my "creative" journey... on the crafts side ;)
